    MINI TENNIS
JUNIOR PROGRAMME

It’s never been easier to get your kids active and having fun with tennis! Children from three years old can now get stuck into the fun and exciting world of tennis with LTA developed programme, called Mini Tennis.

With MiniTennis, kids play on shorter courts, with smaller racquets and with slower-moving, lower-bouncing balls. Kids play tennis made just for them, so that they have a great time and want to keep playing and improving. Mini Tennis offers the perfect introduction to the sport, with all the fun and energy of the real thing.

With our support and encouragement, we create a positive environment for children to get started in the game, play and compete. Mini Tennis is fun for kids of different ages and levels - the sport provides many social, health, and psychological benefits with minimal risk of injury. Let your children have early positive experience in sport that will create a lifelong commitment to an active lifestyle.

There are four stages of LTA Mini Tennis - Tots, Red, Orange and Green, each with their own court size and type of ball. This tailored approach enables players to develop vital skills and techniques at an early age.

MINI TENNIS RED
5-8 YEARS
MINI TENNIS ORANGE
8-9 YEARS
MINI TENNIS GREEN
10+ YEARS

Tots is for children aged 3 to 5 years old and enables them to learn the basics and how to enjoy the game through a series of fun activities, based on the fundamental areas of balance, co-ordination, agility, movement and racket and ball skills.

Tots play with sponge balls and 17 or 19 inch rackets and the focus is about making it as much fun as possible.
Mini Tennis Red is for players aged 8 and under. It is played on small courts with short rackets and soft balls. It’s just like the real game and gives players opportunities to have long rallies and play different types of shots.

Players are encouraged to play fun competitions in teams and as individuals, with short matches using tie-break scoring.
Mini Tennis Orange is a great way for players to continue their progress from Mini Tennis Red and is for players aged 8 and 9. It is played with shorter rackets, softer balls and courts are bigger and wider than the red stage but still smaller than full-size tennis courts allowing players to develop a rounded game whilst learning a range of techniques and tactics.

It is the next stage before playing on a full sized court and helps players develop different shots and tactics.
Mini Tennis Green is a great way for players to continue their progress from Mini Tennis Orange. It is played on a full size tennis court, with bigger rackets and balls which are a little softer than yellow balls. It’s the next stage before moving on to full compression yellow balls on a full sized court and helps players develop and improve all aspects of their game.

PRIVATE LESSONS

Your children can also have private (one-on-one) or semi-private (together with a friend/brother/sister/etc.) lessons with Canada Water Tennis - it is a great way to spend individual time with a coach, working exactly on what your child needs to work on. It can often be the key to unlocking the potential in your child's game. This is a good option if you require a flexible schedule, or as an important addition to the term classes.
